A perfect example of unintentional beauty. I suppose it’s water damage but don’t really care. The underneath of freeways has a lot of interesting things, and slow traffic helps to provide the opportunity for me.

A different series, now: Los Angeles (mostly) freeways. LA is very crowded, I drive a fair amount, so I entertain my congested self by photographing two aspects of it. One is the highways themselves, usually overloaded, sometimes interesting things off to one side. RIP The great David Lindley. Had the good fortune to photograph him back in the 80’s, forget exactly when, but he showed up at my then-studio with a stash of guitars, many of them 10-dollar ditties, such as a Sears Silvertone, but he’d get something unique from each of them.
